Casting Call

Fidget is a Disney Princess Fanatic - the favorite may change over time, but she loves to dress up and pretend she's whichever one is currently "it". We took her to see a high school production of Beauty & the Beast with one of our favorite babysitters in the cast a few weeks ago, and she was thrilled and now asks to go see it on Broadway about every other night. As you might guess, Belle is the current favorite and we have to read her book version of Beauty every night.Fidget has given us many indications that she might want to try acting when she's a little older. Until tonight, we were not so aware that she might want to be the director, company leader and principal actress.

Fidget has previously told Kd and I that one of her friends could come and play and pretend to be characters in the story with her - Fidget considers it a great honor to have her friends play the villain role. As we were reading Beauty tonight, she started to tell me how she was going to pretend to play Belle and one of her friends could play the Beast, and then she continued to cast the entire story - Linus was drafted to play Gaston, I was supposed to be Belle's father, another friend would play one of the Silly Girls with the babysitter (who played that part in the production we saw), and so on. We eventually got done with the casting and were able to finish the story, but it was quite impressive how she filled each role with someone.
