Candy Corn Relay

Saturday, October 18, 2008:

Fidget ran her first race with her buddy, C. After a warm few days, we woke up to a very chilly morning. The race for the 3 year old set was just a 100 yard dash on a football field. She really had no idea what was going on, but when everyone took off, she followed along, running as fast as she could to the finish line.

Daddy and Linus tried to stick it out, but it was just too cold and windy. We'd put Linus in the kelty, but he had tears streaming down his face because of that chilly wind, so he and Dad hung out in the car where Linus promptly went back to sleep.

And, of course, we spent more time waiting for the race than we did on the actual race and collecting the participation ribbon.

Pinning on the number

Trying to convince C to participate in the warm-up dance

Giving C advance warning that she clearly intended to run circles around him

Prom Dates 2022? (Ouch! That hurts me to think about!)

Getting instructions

Trying to figure out how she can work out the same deal. Like mother, like daughter--what IS this running business about anyway?

And she's off!

First race completed!
