Fidget has been sitting in booster seat for meals for awhile now and is quite adept as using her fork and spoon. We've been trying to teach her manners to go with her ability to weild utensils. One came about by accident - as we were celebrating something (Daddy's b-day or NWC's 3 month b-day) we clinked our wine glasses and said "Cheers!" We didn't realize what a little social monster we have in our midst. After seeing us, Fidget insisted on Cheers with her sippy cup, albeit a little more forcefully than we'd like. We did it a few more times that night as Fidget practiced. Now, about every other night or so, just as we're about to start eating, Fidget will ask for a Cheers and clink her cup against ours (wine glass or not)!
More recently, Fidget and I were sharing and finishing off the chocolate cake that Mommy had made from scratch for my birthday (VERY yummy!). Mommy had finished her dinner, decided against the rich chocolate for herself, and was picking up a little before coming back to the table. As she sat back down, I offered her a bite just in case Kd really did want some, but she still said, "No thanks." Upon seeing this exchange, with "chokit" all around her mouth, Fidget piped up with, "You sick, Mommy?" After we stopped laughing, we assured Fidget that Mommy was in fact okay.
