Fidget had a very clear idea of what her costume would be for 2009 - Clara from The Nutcracker. I think this was set in stone from about July onward. Since you can't just buy a Clara costume, Kd invested some time looking for a suitable nightgown/dress, got a set of curlers to change Fidget's long straight hair into curls and found some ribbon to sew onto the dress and for a hair bow so that Fidget would look just like in her book..jpg)

Linus, other than going as the Peanuts character, didn't have a clear preference for anything, so got to use the monkey costume that sister Fidget had once worn. We had a series of parties and events for the kids to dress up in their costumes, but it was close to the last one before Linus decided it was okay to get all costumed up. In one early party, Linus paraded through our office trick or treating wearing his sunglasses as the only "costume" and apparently opting for the "Joe Cool" look over Curious George..jpg)

We figured that the kids had been trick or treating enough over the Halloween weekend on the last, somewhat rainy, night while we were out with friends in a local neighborhood going door-to-door. Fidget was so tired that she couldn't walk straight and I had to steer her from hitting lawn ornaments and shrubs. We were near the end of one side of the street at this point, but Fidget looked at Kd and I and announced that she was done trick or treating and wanted to go home, even though her bucket was only about half-full of candy.
