Jibbering Fidget

Now that we've been without the pacifier for about a month and a half, we have quite a little chatter box. Of course, much of what is said is clear only to Fidget and her kitty and Elmo, who are on the receiving end of the chatter most of the time, but every now and then she can be understood quite clearly. Usually when she is repeating MAC or me. The other day I was getting dressed, and Fidget was obviously quite upset with Elmo for not cooperating with her. He would not stay put in the stroller, and every time he tumbled out, she would pick him up and firmly place him back in the seat while emphatically telling him, "Sit! Sit! Sit!" A mantra she's learned from her Daddy. Of course she repeats me as well, usually when she's telling kitty, or our real cat Sebastian, "No, No!" "No, No!" Of course, there was the day that I got really frustrated at some guy for cutting me off while driving. Thank goodness I only said, "Dude!" Don't even ask me from what depths of my mind I managed to dredge that, but it is what I said, and we've heard it many, many times since.

We're also working very hard at training our little Connecticut Yankee in the Southern graces. She's very good at saying "Please" and "Thank you" (or in Fidgetese "Peas" and "Dank doo"), and we even get them voluntarily on occasion, as does Sebastian when he gives her kisses, or her friends in playdates when she gives them toys. Usually she's giving them their own toys and saying "Thank you." So, she's still working on the concept, but she'll get there.

And the sweetest thing we could hear these days??? "Uhvvoo"...when she tells us "Love you." That and the sound of her laughter, without fail, these things fill me with such a joy, and yes, can reduce me to tears.

And while I have you here, let me catch you up on her last visit to the doctor and dentist. Her 18 month check up was nearly 2 weeks ago. She was 33 inches (grew 1/2 inch) and weighed 24 pounds (gained 1 1/2 ). And we don't have to go back for another well-child visit until she's 2! On our last trip to the dentist, she was taken off the soft diet because her tooth was no longer loose. We'll go back next week for a follow-up x-ray to see how the fracture is healing.

Saw your dad this weekend - he made sure I knew your news. Love hearing about what Fidget is having to say! So sweet! I didn't realize her eyes were so blue. I love the pic in this installment. Such a cute expression on her precious face! Hope you had a great Mom's Day!

Sweet posting. Can't wait to hear all of these things in person. Less that 2 weeks :-)
