We finally got brave enough to take Linus' pacifiers away from him just before my birthday and he was a champ. Fidget was easy because losing the pacifiers was dentist ordered, after she broke her front tooth. We had no incentive with Linus to get rid of the pacifiers, so it took us a long time to build up the courage to take away the one thing that would make him happy when he was trying to settle down to sleep. He was getting better about not having one in his mouth all day long, but as many of the pictures we have show, it was a pretty constant fixture. But, about three days after taking the paci's away, there were no more complaints, and bedtime was no worse than it had been with a pacifier.
Linus even passed the temptation test, when a few days later, we saw another little boy with a paci in his mouth in a store. Linus got close enough that he could've taken a swipe and grabbed the other boy's paci, but he never even tried!
