Linus-isms

Our little guy is growing up and at that stage where you have to get used to hearing him talk and make sense. He still surprises us with the things he's learned to say. It does help understanding Linus-isms and other speech that he is now paci-free as of about four weeks ago. Here's a quick collection of some of the funnier ones Linus has come up with over the past few weeks.

When we had the b-day parties at My Gym, both kids got a 'free' t-shirt with the logo on it. Linus has been going there for several weeks now to a regular class and the t-shirt is one of his favorites to wear. When he first started proudly telling us which shirt he wanted or had on, as the case may be, we were a little shocked. He would point to his shirt and say, "my dam shuht," because "gym" just doesn't come out the way it's supposed to.

One of his b-day presents from a friend has turned out to be a "super" hit - a superman-like cape for playing dress-up. It took Linus some time to warm up to it, but now he asks for help putting on his "superhayro" cape on a regular basis - much better than a tutu or sister's light-up princess shoes! The other day, he told Kd that he wants to be a "superhayro" for Halloween. She asked what kind of superhero, and he responded, "Super[Linus]!!"

I think he picked up a real liking for lollipops as a result of Halloween last year. Now, we have to put up for the occasional scream for a "wallihop" when he can see one.

And, although he's never seen the Austin Powers movies with Mike Meyers, he's adopted one of the lines from the movie. I forget exactly how we asked him, but it was probably along the lines of "where did your food go?" His response? "Got in my belly" - but said with a funny sort of voice reminiscent of the character from the movie.

Fortunately, Linus has a pretty good sense of humor, so when Kd and I start cracking up when he says some of these things, he just figures something is funny and starts laughing at whatever the joke was too.
