I don't recall exactly when this happened during the past few weeks, but it's just more evidence that Fidget does actually pay attention, even it doesn't seem like it. We often give Fidget a chance to explain herself when she does something bad, especially if it doesn't fit in with the way she's been behaving up until then. Fidget's favorite answer for a while was, "Because". I have told her many times in response, "Because is not a reason," and she does usually give more reason than "because" now.

We were out as a family doing some returns at a store, and Kd had gone into the store by herself while the rest of us waited in the car. Linus usually complains when he doesn't get to go in with Mommy and normally will pitch a small fit about it. Fidget is normally a little calmer and doesn't get too concerned if there is a movie to watch in the van while we wait. This particular time, however, she joined in the cause and asked why we weren't all going in. A little short on patience from the ongoing fit coming from Linus, I simply responded, "Because." A second later, Fidget reminded me in a stern tone that, "Because is not a reason, Dad!"
